All good things must come to an end, and in the case of ABC Family’s Pretty Little Liars, maybe that’s a good thing. Definitely not because we’re ready to say goodbye to Aria, Spencer, Emily, and Hanna, but because that would mean their struggles with “A” and whoever else has been messing with their lives these past years are finally over. While there’s been much speculation recently about the inevitable conclusion, series creator Marlene King told Variety that our favorite show would be officially ending after season seven.

This is a pretty heavy and somewhat unexpected thing to hear. After all, we’re just about to start a new chapter in the Liars’ lives with the upcoming #5YearsForward time jump. This whole new set-up rounds off the second half of the sixth season, meaning after, we only have one more year of Pretty Little Liars adventures before it all gets wrapped up.

As sad as this news is, it doesn’t mean we’ve seen the last of the PLL community. Back in the summer, King also spoke to Variety about the possibility of a movie. “I think we’ll let the fans tell us what they want,” she explained. “We’re open to that…I’m all for it. Yes, we’re in.”

I think it’s safe to say that’s definitely something the fans want. If the show really does have to end, then at least the magic will continue in other ways. For now, let’s just enjoy the final seasons before we have to give this iconic show up.
