It’s no secret that we love Ryan Gosling, which is why we’re so excited to hear about his next project. Directed by La La Land‘s Damien Chazelle, Ryan Gosling is set to star as Neil Armstrong in an upcoming biopic about the famous astronaut’s life, First Man.

If you’ve not seen La La Land yet then you absolutely must. The film stars Emma Stone and Gosling, a movie match made in heaven tbh, and features the pair singing amazing songs to each other. What’s more, we’re SO impressed that Ryan Gosling actually did all the piano playing in the movie himself.

Now it’s been revealed that Gosling is set to star in an upcoming biopic about Neil Armstrong and we can’t WAIT to see it.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gosling is joining forces with the La La Land director, Damien Chazelle, for the project, which has the title First Man. It appears that Ryan has been shopping the idea since 2015, and that a deal was made this month!

Neil Armstrong was, of course, the first man on the moon, so we’re sure that there’s a *really* exciting story to tell here, and if anyone can manage that it’s Ryan Gosling.

The film is an adaptation of James Hansen’s 2005 book, First Man: A Life of Neil A. Armstrong, and the script is set to be written by Josh Singer, who also wrote the script for the Oscar winning movie Spotlight (which again, if you’ve not seen you MUST).

While the film is being touted as a biopic, director Damien Chazelle said that he was hesitant to call the movie that. As Collider report, the director said that it was more of a “mission movie” that focused on the landing on the moon.

A studio source told THR that the movie would be set in the years 1961 to 1969, and would “explore the sacrifices and the cost — on Armstrong and on the nation — of one of the most dangerous missions in history.”

Given that Ryan Gosling and La La Land are up for some Golden Globe nominations and are hotly tipped for the Oscars, too, we think that First Man sounds like it could be a really amazing movie, and we can’t wait to see it!
