At this point it’s easier to list off things that haven’t happened yet on Pretty Little Liars than it is to list things that have. No one’s been attacked by a bear or abducted by aliens. No one’s married a movie star, or their step sibling. At least not yet. Aside from that, basically, everything else has happened — people have been kidnapped, fake kidnapped, dead bodies have been buried, and bodies have been buried alive. There have been masquerade balls, drug addictions, attempted drownings, stabbings, shootings, ’40’s film noir dreams, etc. times a billion. The show is absolutely crazy pants, but that’s exactly why we love it so much.

The premier of the second half of PLL‘s fifth season is tonight (did you hear that?), and we are SO READY. Here’s everything we need to keep in mind about all that Rosewood craziness as the show returns.

Spencer still has looming murder charges

She’s out on bail, at least, but Spencer continues to be suspect #1 in Mona’s murder. If that’s not enough drama right there, Toby as a newly-minted Rosewood police officer might clash with Spencer and her hunt to clear her name, (and figure out A’s identity once and for all). According to spoilers, evidence shows up in the Rosewood PD, which “puts Toby in a difficult position with his job and with Spencer.” Uh-oh.

Mona’s not gone forever

OK, she’s gone, but she’s not gone gone because it seems like PLL will be employing one of my favorite character developments for Mona: Mona from beyond the grave. Or, at least Mona talking to them in pre-recorded videos from beyond the grave. She’s still billed as a main cast member for the show, which means that we’re in for flashbacks — which hopefully will further explain the roller coaster rivalry between Mona and Ali before all this insane A stuff started going down.

The Liars are getting serious about college

The girls are seniors in high school, WHO KNEW? As the seasons have progressed we’ve seen them spend less and less times in the halls of Rosewood High, simply because that’s not where the action happens. I’ve often wondered about their college plans, and my actual dream episode for the show is a bottle episode in which we just watch Emily fill out the Common Application.

Anywho, their applications are in, and Aria’s the one faced with the most rejection.

Emily and Paige might be over

Paige dropped some major information on Emily in the Christmas special — her parents are worried about her safety in Rosewood, and want her to move out to California. Could this be the end of these two?? It appears like it might be the end of the couple, unless Emily and Paige can weather a long distance relationship.

MAYBE we’ll finally address the Rosewood in the room

Personally, I enjoyed the PLL spin-off Rosewood, even though it did take Caleb away from the major A action. But the show made up for it with Caleb + Ghosts, which was a winning combination. And then it was canceled. At least Caleb made his way back to the town that started it all, but he’s still dealing with some lingering Ravenswood ghosts — and Mrs. Grundwald. Yes, she’s back in his life, and the lives of the Liars (remember, Ali was the first one to connect with her, back during her time MIA).

Marlene King is dropping clues!

A few days ago, creator and showrunner, Marlene King, posted a screenshot of Patsy Cline’s “Walking After Midnight” and then gave the image a mighty interesting caption. What does it mean?? I’m not the best at deciphering the deeper meanings of song lyrics, so if there are any super sleuths out there, please share your wisdom!

Also, there are MULTIPLE different promos for season 5b

PLL will air in the US, Canada and Australia all at the same time, so that means three different promos for three different regions. The more Liars, the better.

At least one fan has figured it all out

We can speculate all we want, but it appears that only one fan has correctly figured out the whole A mystery, and even King was shocked by it. “”Both my assistant and I saw it online — I won’t even say where — but there was someone who had it completely right, and I think I saved it,” she told Entertainment Tonight. “Once that revelation is revealed, I will call that person. It was shockingly correct.”

What do you think? What’s your craziest PLL theory? And on a scale of 1-10, how excited are you for the rest of season 5?? (Answer: probably, like a, 12.)
