Winter is coming so be ready to fight the White Walkers as we now know when Game of Thrones could be returning!

It was revealed last year that the seventh season of Game of Thrones would be delayed. The showrunners, David Benioff and Dan Weiss, explained the delay, saying that, because Winter had arrived, they could no longer really shoot in summer.

“‘Winter is here,’ and that means that sunny weather doesn’t really serve our purposes any more,” they said during the UFC Unfiltered podcast. “So we kind of pushed everything down the line, so we could get some grim grey weather even in the sunnier places that we shoot.”

This delay didn’t put a dampener on the spoilers that seem to surround GoT, and late last year the apparent plot line for the seventh season seemingly leaked on Reddit, much to the chagrin of the show’s cast.

Well, now it seems that one of the cast may have let slip when Game of Thrones is to return, and we can’t wait!

Speaking to the Irish Independent, Liam Cunningham, who plays Ser Davos Seaworth, revealed that the summer return date was pretty spot on.

O-M-G! Okay, so July *is* quite far away, but at least we know when (possibly) the show is coming back!

Cunningham also revealed when shooting would begin for the show’s concluding eighth season.

“The final season starts again as far as I know in September,” he revealed

Eeeeeeeek!

Meanwhile, a betting website polled who audiences thought would be the next character to get the chop (probably literally) when Game of Thrones returns later this year. It appeared that the definitive winner of the poll, with 1,422 votes, was none other than Theon Greyjoy. Tbh, if this is true he did have it coming…

Game of Thrones returns to HBO later this year.
