Netflix just gave us the ultimate DIY for holiday binge-watching
If you’re feeling ready to binge-watch and daring enough to test out your electrical skills, then you have to check out Netflix’s latest tutorial for “Netflix Socks.” They’re there to solve the classic problem of settling in to watch your favorite TV series but then falling asleep halfway through the season. Never again miss important episodes because your body dozed off. These Netflix socks have got your back.
Here’s how they work: using an accelerometer, the socks detect when you’ve stopped moving. They’ll begin to glow, warning you that if you don’t move soon, they’re going to pause the show. That’s not a problem for those who are fast asleep. They’d definitely appreciate someone stepping in and saving their spot, which is exactly why the socks were created in the first place.
Well, “created” is a strong word. The socks aren’t available in stores. In fact, we’re not actually sure anyone has made them, but it’s totally doable. Netflix released step-by-step instructions, including a list of everything you’ll need and even TV-themed sock patterns for you to knit yourself, like House of Cards, Jessica Jones, and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.
The sock is worth it for the awesome patterns alone, but if you want to take it a step further, with a little caution and a lot of concentration, you can craft the real deal, just in time for the winter weather to really kick in.
