Nathan Fillion is no stranger to playing superheroes. Some of us got our first taste of the man, the myth, the legend as superhero Captain Hammer in Joss Whedon’s 2008 musical webseries Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog (while others were introduced to Fillion’s awesomeness in Whedon’s gone-too-soon sci-fi-western Firefly). Since then, Fillion has kept busy with his long-running stint as the title character on the crime show Castle. He’s voiced a few comic book-inspired characters since his Captain Hammer days (notably animated versions of Green Lantern and Wonder Woman‘s Steve Trevor), but we haven’t seen Fillion in the flesh getting his superhero on for far too long.

Well, Fillion’s pretty ready to get back to playing a live-action superhero AND he knows exactly which hero he wants to play. As Comic Book reports, while hanging out at WizardCon in Chicago, Fillion was asked, on a panel, which superhero he’d most like to play from the Marvel/DC comics.

“I think I could take a pretty good crack at Booster Gold,” said Fillion. “That’s kind of my niche… show-offy, vain. I think I could handle that… not too bright.”

Never let it be said that Fillion doesn’t know his wheelhouse. The DC Comics-created “glory-seeking showboat from the future,” a member of the Justice League who uses his “knowledge of historical events and futuristic technology to stage high-publicity heroics” is TOTALLY up Fillion’s alley.

On the off chance that the studios aren’t down to dump hundreds of millions into a Booster Gold movie (of course, we did just get Ant-Man this summer so anything IS possible), Fillion’s got some alternate dream super-roles lined up.

“I think Ambush Bug. Remember that guy? Little bit off his rocker. You’d never see my face,” added Filion. “But I think Greatest American Hero is due for a reboot.”

We wish Fillion the best of luck as he embarks on this valiant quest to find his perfect superhero role. Check out the vid where he tells all below:
