A Thanksgiving playlist for the long drive (or plane ride) home
Get ready everyone, because it’s that time of the year again… Thanksgiving season. With Thanksgiving only days away, many people are getting ready to pack up their bags to make the trek back home. Whether you’re planning to drive or fly back to the nest, Thanksgiving has always been known as one of the busiest travel times of the year. From seemingly endless lines at the airport to traffic moving at a snail’s pace, the best way to cure those blues is with a stellar playlist to distract you from the slow moving time.
This has pretty much become an essential for me — I could never imagine traveling without some of my favorite songs blasting in the background. Any trip tends to be smooth sailing when you have the ideal soundtrack accompanying you on your journey.
When I started building this playlist, I knew I wanted it to have that lively combination of feelings you get when embarking on a Thanksgiving trip: home, nostalgia, and excitement. There are the classics you can’t stop singing along to, like Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” or Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’.” And for the ’90s fans out there, I couldn’t resist adding singles from *NSYNC, Spice Girls, Backstreet Boys, and Green Day. I also sprinkled in The Neighbourhood’s “Sweater Weather” to channel those autumn vibes.
Once you finally zip up your suitcase and head out the door, double check to ensure you haven’t forgotten your toothbrush, socks, and — of course — this playlist. You’ll definitely be listening to these 40 tracks on repeat, whether it’s on your headphones flying through the air, or on your car stereo cruising down the highway.
Oh yeah, and don’t forget your best karaoke voice. It’ll be hard not to bust out singing along to at least half of the tracks you’re about to hear.
