Everyone has been so busy trying to figure out the bajillions of hidden messages in Taylor Swift’s new video, “Look What You Made Me Do,” they didn’t even realize that the song sounds very similar to a High School Musical song. In fact, we didn’t realize it either, but now that we’ve heard the similarities, we can’t unhear them.

Twitter user Jon Cozart and his magic ears first discovered that the music in “Look What You Made Me Do” is crazy similar to Troy Bolton’s jam “Bet On It” from High School Musical 2. Don’t believe it? Listen to the mashup that Cozart put together to prove it. (Also watch the video, because LOL).

Cozart asks a very important question in his Twitter post: “Where’s troy bolton’s CREDIT @taylorswift13!??”

Troy Bolton’s song (aka Zac Efron’s song) is fairly similar to Tay’s song. Here’s what could have happened: Maybe she’s just a huge High School Musical fan and was undercover-inspired by its music and then sort of made it her own by accident.

Right? That’s totally a possibility.

Regardless, Swift’s fans expressed their fake outrage at how anyone could rip off the legendary Troy Bolton. But more importantly, they also expressed their appreciation for the guys at the very end of the video looking at Cozart like, “Why are you trying to be Troy Bolton right now?”

What do you think? Did Tay rip off High School Musical? Or are the musical similarities just a coincidence?
