Kesha's video for her single featured in the upcoming Ruth Bader Ginsburg biopic will make your day better
Kesha just released a new music video for “Here Comes the Change,” her latest single written for the upcoming Ruth Bader Ginsburg biopic On the Basis of Sex. In the black-and-white video, the “Praying” singer strums her guitar and plays a harmonica as scenes from the film, out in theaters on December 25th, feature behind her. Dubbed a “rallying cry for social justice,” the video was directed by Jonas Akerland, who worked with Kesha on her video for her Grammy-nominated ballad “Praying.”

On the Basis of Sex chronicles the true story of lawyer Ruth Bader Ginsburg (Felicity Jones) and the obstacles she had to overcome to become a U.S. Supreme Court Justice. In the film, Ginsburg works alongside her husband (Call Me By Your Name star Armie Hammer) on a groundbreaking case of gender discrimination.
In September, Kesha wrote about the overall message behind “Here Comes the Change” for Refinery29:
“Here Comes the Change” isn’t Kesha’s first foray into social and political activism. Earlier this month, the singer released an anti-gun violence song called “Safe” following the mass shooting in Parkland, Florida in February 2018. The “Your Love is My Drug” singer took to Twitter on October 11th and wrote: “This song is coming tomorrow in partnership with @AMarch4OurLives. Let’s end senseless gun violence.”
We stan a politically engaged pop queen.
