These “Hamilton” alums are performing at the Super Bowl, and we know they're going to WERK it!
We totally watch the Super Bowl for the amazing musical performances. Sure, football and blah blah blah, but mostly the musical performances. Everyone’s in for a treat for the upcoming Super Bowl LI, because original Schuyler sisters from Hamilton are set to perform, and we’re SO excited.
The ladies won’t be performing during the halftime show, but that’s OK — Lady Gaga will be taking care of that. But they will be performing “America the Beautiful” before kickoff.
And it’s just so perfectly fitting since the Schuyler sisters are all about patriotism.
Phillipa Soo, Renée Elise Goldsberry and Jasmine Cephas Jones originated the roles of the fiercest threesome around. The three women are no longer in the musical, so the fact that we get to see them do their thing during the Super Bowl is really, really exciting. The super talented ladies will be joined by Luke Bryan, who will sing the national anthem.
When the news dropped on Friday about their performance, Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda tweeted a screenshot of his Facetime session with the actresses as they rehearsed their song. And clearly everyone could hardly control their enthusiasm.
The ladies are just as excited as Miranda. Goldsberry posted this adorable picture to Instagram, writing “Flashback to celebrate the announcement: WE ARE SINGING AT THE #SUPERBOWL! #AMERICATheBEAUTIFUL #FBF #REUNITEDANDITFEELSSOGOOD! #GlassesareHOT”
You can catch the Super Bowl on Fox at 6:30 p.m. ET on February 5th. To witness the epic-ness that is the Schuyler sisters singing “America the Beautiful”, tune in around 6:20 p.m..
