Björk continues to be ahead of her time. Last week her fans entered a world of wonder at her new VR exhibition, Björk Digital, at London’s Royal Albert Hall. And now, courtesy of Reddit, we learned a few new things about the avant–garde musician.

It seems that the singer–songwriter is curious, more than ever, about exploring technology’s relationship with art. So it was pretty interesting for her to share her most personal thoughts with fans during a Reddit AMA.

Björk spoke a lot about her ever–changing music process, but more surprisingly, she revealed her love for the hip-hop group Death Grips and RuPaul’s Drag Race.

See the awesome and eccentric things she said from her AMA thread.

Björk on not feeling pressured to conform and how corporate companies are the enemy.

“i prob was lucky because as a teenager in [Reykjavik, Iceland] nothing was going on. So when i have been introduced to restricting claustrophobic routes ive kinda just ignored them. Because [I] knew they weren’t true and selling 3 copies dont scare me, more important to stay true to my nature ….? also coming from punk background corporate companies [were] the enemy. it is really, very clear and more simple really[.]”

Björk on writing autographs and other celebs letting fans take selfies.

“in iceland we have not much hierarchy and no one is more important than the next one, therefore autographs [is] kinda silly. Here it is a matter of self respect, if [you] want an autograph make one yourself lol. i also like how more known people are allowed to be different in how they communicate with their listeners. some people wanna do selfies and some write app albums and wanna teach children music and some do heavy metal tour 300 gigs a year crowd surf kinda contact, whatever works right?”

Björk on creativity and how she could find it in recipes.

“i think creativity always lives somewhere in everyone but its nature is quite pranksterish and slippery and every time [you] grab its tail its found [in a] corner to thrive in.  If it’s in sauce recipes, writing theatre plays, papermache improv [with] nephews, discovering [in] hiking routes or simply trying to figure out a family [member’s] sense of humour.”

Björk on how songs are time loops and her emotional songs.

“[Some] songs are like time loops and pull [you] into them when the first notes start. [Others] are translucent and can weave into them the day and the moment [you] sing them in. [You] try to write a simple but timeless structure, a vessel that is so thousand percent only one emotional location that it is impossible to bend it, and therefore has more interesting entry points for listeners.

Björk on her love for Death Grips.

“i basically got obsessed with guillotine, the video, the song, everything!!!!! [Death Grips] did 2 remixes or remakes to be more accurate of biophilia that were my faves and we have in touch ever since!!! i just love their punk spirit and admire the whole lack of genre they do.”

Björk on RuPaul’s Drag Race and contestant Katya’s Snatch Game impression of her.

“YESSSSSSSS i absolutely loved it, especially when she started humming to herself ha ha ha ha selfishly i was hoping for a more current version like a vulnicura one lol but she nailed the feminist activist tribal volta sincerest form of flattery etc.”

So there you have it. Björk is constantly keeping us on our toes and teaching us new things.
