Pirates of the Caribbean is a HUGE movie franchise and sometimes we forget that it started as a ride. When Disney first turned a lowly park ride into a movie starring Johnny Depp, people were like WUT? But then the movie came out and it was dope and then people were like JK, YOU GUYS KNOW WHAT YOU’RE DOING!

Technically, one could argue that the Tower of Terror movie was the first ride-to-film franchise, but let’s not get into that.

Here are all the movies based on rides slated to be released by Disney

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales

Disney

A down-on-his-luck Captain Jack Sparrow is being hunted by his old nemesis Captain Salazar and his only hope for survival is to find the legendary Trident of Poseidon. Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, Javier Bardem and Geoffrey Rush all return to the franchise.

Release Date: May 26, 2017.

The Haunted Mansion

Disney

Technically, we already saw a movie titled The Haunted Mansion. It came out in 2003 and was a horror comedy starring Eddie Murphy. Remember that? The new film has no plot details other than the fact that Ryan Gosling is rumored to be involved and it’s set to be directed by Guillermo del Toro, so it will probably be much darker in tone. You can watch a grainy teaser trailer here.

Release date: TBA.

Dumbo

Disney

We know that Tim Burton is directing this and that it’s about an elephant with big ears who learns how to fly. It will also be live-action and probably very similar to the Alice in Wonderland films. Technically, there is a 1941 film of the same name that the ride is actually based on.

Release Date: TBA.

Jungle Cruise

The movie is supposedly based on Disneyland’s theme park ride where a small riverboat takes a group of travelers through a jungle filled with dangerous animals and reptiles. Dwayne Johnson is already set to star and that’s about all we know.

Release Date: TBA.

It’s A Small World

Almost nothing is known about this film other than it’s based on the ride. Jon Turteltaub is directing (National Treasure).

Release Date: TBA.
