Among the many Netflix original films and series coming out this summer, To The Bone starring Lily Collins is one film that you must add to your queue ASAP. The trailer for To The Bone was released earlier today, and it’s heartbreaking, funny, quirky, and a relevant story for the approximately eight million people living with eating disorders in the U.S.

While attending the program, Ellen meets an unconventional doctor played by Keanu Reeves, who helps her through her self-discovery process and treatment.

The film’s writer and director, Marti Noxon, best known for her writing credits on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and UNreal, based the script off of her own experiences with anorexia and bulimia.

Collins had also struggled with an eating disorder when she was younger. Collins told Refinery29 that she was uneasy about having to lose the weight in preparation for the film. She feared that the weight loss would trigger her past eating disorder.

But with loads of support and being under constant supervision, Collins found preparation for To The Bone extremely therapeutic.

To The Bone will be available to stream on Netflix on July 14th. Whether you or a loved one have experienced eating disorders first-hand or not, the film will open your eyes to the truth behind the disorders.

As always, if you or someone you know is struggling with an eating disorder, don’t hesitate to call the National Eating Disorders Association Helpline at 1-800-931-2237.
