This is not the song inspired by the upcoming Star Wars: The Last Jedi film that you were expecting. It’s safe to say that any news coming from Director Rian Johnson about the upcoming Star Wars film is highly anticipated. And he recently revealed new details in the form of a song. Johnson tweeted a link to a catchy Jedi-inspired song written by John Darnielle of the band The Mountain Goats.

If he says it’s canon, it must be, right? But you’re probably wondering how this song even came about. Here’s the story:

Johnson then posted the song on his Soundcloud account. The song as a whole starts off pretty chill reminding a “young Jedi” to “remember those who went before” and “give hope and comfort to the living”. All very Jedi-like, right? Then, by about one minute in, we’re humming along to a cute song about “the dust of Jedi bones piled high like parsnips on his plate.”

Yes, this song is about eating Jedi bones.

The song is appropriately titled “The Ultimate Jedi Who Wastes All the Other Jedi and Eats Their Bones,” so I guess we should’ve expected this.

Is that what Luke’s been doing all of those years on that beautiful island? Is there some hint as to who the last Jedi might be in this song? Nope. But if The Last Jedi ends up being about a pile of Jedi bones, we can all blame this catchy and hilarious song.

Let’s just hope there are significantly less bones in The Last Jedi than were in this song.
