Reese Witherspoon says we're finally ready for 'Legally Blonde 3'
There have been a lot of big moments in 2015 so far, but this one might be the biggest. Reese Witherspoon believes that the time is right for us to check in with Elle Woods again, and she’s already dreaming up BIG plans for our favorite Harvard Law grad. Legally Blonde 3, anyone?
Stopping by Lifetime’s Fashionably Late with Rachel Zoe, Witherspoon answered a few fan questions, and one of them happened to be about our favorite Delta Nu, Elle. Where is she, what is she doing, and when will she be back in our lives? That’s when Witherspoon dropped the big pink bombshell, and announced that bringing Elle back right now would be “kinda great.” Why right now? Because the nation is already talking about “women in politics, and how important that is to get more women.”
Go ahead and freak out for a few seconds. !!!
It’s been 12 years since we last checked in with Elle in 2003, and at the end of Legally Blonde: Red, White, and Blonde, it was hinted at that Elle already had political aspirations in mind. A decade later, Witherspoon could most certainly see Elle being “a Supreme Court justice or someone who runs for office.” And that office could be the Oval Office.
“I think we’re ready to see Elle and see what she’s up to lately,” Witherspoon teased, and now this is all we can think about. Elle Woods, Supreme Court Justice. Elle Woods, Speaker of the House. Elle Woods, President 2020. All of those titles have magical rings to them. And running for office, what, like it’s hard? If there’s anyone who can do it, it’s Elle.
Witherspoon finished off by mention that she’s not solely responsible for getting LB3 off the ground, and if we want to see it happen, we’ve got to talk to the studio, MGM.
So, MGM. Here’s our plea: Please bring Elle Woods back. We need her back. It’s time. She’s the political figure our nation needs right now. Oh, and Bruiser can come, too.
