As if we weren’t already so excited for Disney and Pixar’s new film Coco to hit theaters, they’ve literally thrown us a bone, releasing a short to give us just a taste of what to expect from the film. The short, “Dante’s Lunch” follows Dante (the dog of Coco’s star, Miguel) on his quest to chomp on the perfect bone — which happens to belong to someone who wants it back.

As Dante bone of choice takes him on a wild ride throughout his village, we get a sneak preview of the villagers preparing for the upcoming Dia de Los Muertos. From what we’ve seen in the short, we definitely think Disney and Pixar are working hard to portray Dia de Los Muertos as authentically as possible.

“Dante’s Lunch” gives us just a short look at what to expect from Coco and we’re so excited. Coco is about a boy, Miguel, an aspiring musician from a family where music is banned. After a turn of events, Miguel ends up in the Land of the Dead and must team up with a trickster, Hector, to solve a family mystery.

The film stars Benjamin Bratt, Gael Garcia Bernal, and newcomer Anthony Gonzalez. This film sounds like everything we love about Disney/Pixar films: Laughs, tears, and fantastic music.

From what we’ve seen, it seems like Dante will play a very important part in the film as man’s best friend. Dante the dog is the face of the first poster and definitely seems like a good source of comic relief.

We’re counting down the days until we get to see Coco in theaters but meanwhile we’ll be watching “Dante’s Lunch” over and over again!
