If you were a child of the ’80s/’90s, it’s likely you grew up on a dusty old VHS tape of the original My Little Pony movie. You remember. Baby Lickety-Split’s Joseph Campbellian hero’s journey. Cloris Leachman, Rhea Perlman, and Madeline Kahn turning in tour de force voice performances as diabolical witch Hydia, and her bumbling daughters, Reeka and Draggle. And, of course THE SMOOZE. Which nothing can stop. Except, you know, spoiler alert, the magic of Flutter Ponies.

It’s high time for this generation to get its own theatrical release Pony movie. (It has, after all, been 30 years since the last MLP flick hit theaters.)

The latest incarnation of the franchise, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, heard your fangirl prayers, and a new theatrical release My Little Pony hits theaters October 6th!

Lionsgate

We know, it’s a LONG time to wait. Like, half a year! You’re the biggest Pony fan all of Equestria! How will you find the patience to wait!

Well, to tide you over, we just got the teeniest peek at the film in the form of an announcement teaser.

Okay, so maybe we don’t get, like, the MOST info out of this trailer. But we do find out this movie is freaking star-studded. Emily Blunt! Kristin Chenoweth! Liev Schreiber! Michael Peña! Sia! Taye Diggs! Uzo Aduba! Zoe Saldana! That’s a LOT of wattage. Like, that’s ALMOST as much star power as “Too Many Pinkie Pies.”

Also, note that many of these stars are freaking great singers. So we’re hoping that means we can expect songs up the wazoo. We know for sure we’re getting an original song performed by Sia. So there’s at LEAST that.

To quote Pinkie Pie in the teaser trailer:

So what’s the new Pony movie about anyway? Here’s the official synopsis:

Eeeep! New dark force! Unforgettable journey! What’s beyond Equestria??? How are the ponies going to use the magic of friendship to save the day this time? We’re WAY too excited to find out.
