A teaser for Jennifer Lawrence’s new movie Mother! was released today — and all we can say is buckle up for 30 seconds of the most nerve-wracking, confusing, incredibly intriguing chaos ever.

We don’t know a ton about the plot of Mother! yet (again, just 30 seconds of pure madness).

BUT, we do know that the film (in theaters September 15th) centers on a couple who receives some unexpected visitors. Terrifying things unfold from there, including a shout of “murder!” Then, you know, there’s the sounds of knives being sharpened, an enormous fire, and a lot of other creepy stuff.

Super enticing trailer aside, the film already has a ton working for it.

Like, its all-star cast: Lawrence, Javier Bardem, Ed Harris, Michelle Pfeiffer, and many others. Then there’s writer-director-producer Darren Aronofsky, the brilliant talent behind Requiem for a Dream and Black Swan.

So yeah, he’s pretty great with that whole nightmare thing…

Aronofsky took to Twitter to reveal the upcoming film’s poster back in May, which features Lawrence’s character *literally* holding her heart in her hand.

One shrewd Twitter user spotted the reflection of two figures in Lawrence’s eyes and posted about it, which Aronofsky then retweeted. And so, the plot thickens…

Meanwhile, Aronofsky has been on a road trip recently, and is seemingly projecting the word “mother” onto various abandoned and vacant locations — to a pretttttty creepy and cool effect.

We can’t wait to see what else this Mother! of an adventure has in store, though we’ll maybe skip the creepy warehouses altogether.
