Maya Rudolph is a boss. Earlier this year the SNL alum had her variety show with Martin Short, Maya and Marty, and recently she made that adorable “Call Your Girlfriend” video with Emma Stone. Now, she’s the subject of some of the BEST MOVIE NEWS: she’s going to costar as Melissa McCarthy’s BFF in an upcoming film.

Movie gods, we bow down to you in thanks.

According to The Hollywood Reporter the movie, titled Life of the Party, is set at a college and will costar Animal Kingdom’s Molly Gordon as McCarthy’s daughter. McCarthy actually cowrote the script for this new film with her husband, Ben Falcone, who is also set to direct. Gillian Jacobs rounds out the cast as a sorority sister, and let’s not forget that this film will bring our former Bridesmaids together again in perfect harmony.

While there aren’t a ton of details available, it’s allegedly in the vein of the 1986 Rodney Dangerfield film Back to School, in which an aging partier joins his son at university. We’re getting some Sisters vibes from that description, though that film lacked the college element — but then again, that movie also featured two lady comedy powerhouses, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, which we’re taking as a good sign.

We know from experience that Ghostbusters’ McCarthy is a genius at playing brash, no-nonsense characters so if she’s the titular “life of the party,” where does that leave Rudolph? Her character is described as the “neurotic best friend,” — which is pretty bare bones (and stereotypical) but, if we know Rudolph, she’ll bring loads of depth and humor to the role.

Life of the Party will begin filming later this month in Atlanta; it’s set for a May 2018 release. We can hardly wait!
