Practice makes perfect for Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling in these behind-the-scenes "La La Land" pictures
By now nearly everyone on earth has seen La La Land, the gorgeous musical starring Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone as a jazz musician and aspiring actress, who fall in (and out) of love in the dazzling city of Los Angeles.
It was one of the biggest films of 2016 and was nominated for, like, a million Oscars (okay, 14, which is tied for most ever), with Stone winning best actress, Damien Chazelle for best director, and a slew of other wins. In order to put on a stunning musical like La La Land a *lot* goes on behind the scenes to create the perfection we see in theaters, from choreography and staging to grand rehearsals.
Ahead of La La Land’s DVD release on April 25th, we’ve got an exclusive look at some of behind the scenes making of the movie, OMG are they as amazing as you would imagine.
Gosling and Stone are professionals but even they have to rehearse for their big numbers. Here they are rehearsing that iconic bench-dance-at-sunset number.
Chazelle, who is the wunderkind behind the whole production, with creating the premise of the musical, along with writing and directing the film, seemed like a fabulously hands-on director. You don’t get another day of sunshine without a little hard work, you know.
And you also don’t get a killer all-ladies out-on-the-town dance number without getting into it yourself a little. Everyone in this picture slays, including Chazelle.
Not gonna lie, this adorably staged photo of Chazelle yelling at Gosling, Stone, and the rest of the cast is so charming, we want to have it framed.
Gosling and Stone are the face of this film but judging from these BTS pics, Chazelle seems like a pretty cool guy to hang out with, too, even *if* the side profile of his face kind of reminds us of Moriarty from Sherlock — just saying.
Ugh, that Gosling intensity. *Insert one hundred heart eyes emojis* 😍
If you’re feeling that GOTTA DANCE itch right now, you can download La La Land on digital *right now,* and the DVD and Blu-Ray will land on shelves on April 25th. Here’s to those who dream!
