Nicholas Sparks novels and films will always have a special place in our hearts. There’s nothing like a super cheesy, overly romantic dramatic movie or book that really gets the waterworks going, if you know what we mean. And don’t get us started on the classic teen soap opera, One Tree Hill, because we can go on FOREVER about our love for that show!

And while both One Tree Hill and The Notebook brought us stars like Rachel McAdams, Ryan Gosling, Sophia Bush, James Lafferty, and Chad Michael Murray (just to name a few), did you know that one particular actor appeared in both productions?

That’s right! Actor Paul Johansson, who infamously played One Tree Hill’s ultimate villain Dan Scott, also played Allie’s mother’s love interest; you know, the one that “got away.”

Although, we totally understand if you missed him in it. Seriously, if you blink you’ll miss his small cameo. In fact, the 52-year old actor isn’t even credited in the film for his role; the title of his character is also just “Allie’s Mother’s Ex Boyfriend.”

So, there you have it. Dan was Allie’s mother’s ex-lover. What a world we live in!
