The first "Jurassic World 2" trailer is bonkers, because Chris Pratt has to save the dinosaurs from a volcano
What do you get when you combine a bunch of wild dinosaurs, a volcano on the verge of erupting, and Jeff Goldblum? Why, obviously the trailer for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, the follow-up to 2015’s Jurassic reboot that roared into theaters (and our hearts). Even though going back to the island is literally the worst idea ever, that’s just what Chris Pratt’s Owen and Bryce Dallas Howard’s Claire are going to do: they’re on a rescue mission to save the dinos.
Bad idea, but okay!
As the first trailer sets up, it’s been some time since Owen and Claire have seen one another (so…guess they weren’t sticking together “for survival”), and now Claire needs his help. She’s part of a dinosaur protection agency, and guess what? Isla Nublar is about to explode, via volcano. Since everyone left the island — you know, because it was overrun with dinosaurs — the extinct creatures have roamed free. But fearing their second extinction, Claire’s starting to get worried.
And, as Claire tells Owen, his favorite dinosaur — the raptor, Blue — is alive.
Going back to the island to save one terrifying adult raptor from a volcano? Sounds like a clear-cut situation for comedy, if you ask me! Actually, scratch that. This is a clear cut situation for what will maybe be the most terrifying Jurassic movie to date.
This movie’s got it all, like: Running away from dinosaurs, those gyrospheres from the first film, Jeff Goldblum testifying in front of what appears to be some sort of government committee, that song from Black Mirror, and a T-Rex that just won’t quit. What more could you want from the movie?
How about Claire wearing sensible shoes? Don’t worry, girl packed some boots this time, and her days of running around Isla Nublar in high heels are in the past. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom roars into theaters on June 22nd, 2018.
