These are screams of joy, because Jamie Lee Curtis is returning for another "Halloween" movie
Calling all horror movie aficionados: Because the OG scream queen, Jamie Lee Curtis, is returning for another Halloween movie! And yes, she’ll be reprising the iconic role of Laurie Strode.
*Muffles screams of joy/terror into a pillow.*
For those who need a refresher/horror movie 101 briefing, Curtis starred in the original Halloween way back in 1978 (at just 19 years old). The film, co-written and directed by scary-movie genius John Carpenter, literally defined a new generation of horror (aka: super creepy guy terrorizes group of teens).
Even more, the film is widely regarded as a modern stylistic masterpiece. Much of the film is shot through the killer’s visual point of view, which gives the viewer the constant and terrifying feeling that the protagonist is always being watched. *Shivers.*
Oh yeah, and Carpenter wrote the iconic score, too. You know the one:
The story was crafted by David Gordon Green and Danny McBride and “carves a new path from the events in the landmark 1978 film.” John Carpenter will serve as a creative consultant and executive producer.
Okay, if we’re being honest, we’re a little hesitant about this new chapter. There have been a ton of Halloween sequels and reboots over the years — including Halloween H20: 20 Years Later, and Halloween: Resurrection, both of which also featured Jamie Lee Curtis and were met with pretty ho-hum reviews. Plus, this new installment will have to answer a lot of questions (cuz like, um, isn’t Michael Myers totally already dead?).
HOWEVER, we are always willing to give things another shot when it comes to this franchise. Because sometimes, lightning (slash, insanely scary and genius horror movies starring Jamie Lee Curtis) strikes twice. So basically, what this dude says:
The film is set to be released on October 18th, 2018.
