After the success of the Emma Watson-led Beauty and the Beast live-action remake, fans are expecting a lot from upcoming remakes of Disney classics. But with that being said, fans have been let down by the 2018 Snow White movie poster, which seems to be marketing body-shaming.

The animated film, titled Red Shoes and the 7 Dwarfs, is a reimagining of Disney’s first animated feature (but Disney is not behind it). Chloë Moretz stars as Snow White, who has in her possession a pair of enchanted red shoes that, when worn, transfigure her natural body shape — short and curvy — to tall and slender.

After watching the trailer, we became very wary that Red Shoes is teetering on a thin line.

And judging by the film’s poster, it seems that Red Shoes tripped, fell, and fully crossed that thin line into body-shaming territory.

Basically the poster is implying that the natural, curvy, and short Snow is not beautiful. Ahem, excuse us. We have an issue with that!

Obviously we’re not the only ones who have taken issue with the poster. Plus-sized model Tess Holliday took to Twitter to ask how in the heck this marketing idea got approved.

Others are simply, and justifiably, outraged.

As pissed off as we are, we have hope that Red Shoes is actually about spreading body positivity and was simply marketed wrong. According to Locus Creative Studios, body positivity seems to be their aim. The studio’s website states,

We guess we’ll just have to wait and see how Red Shoes pans out. With this huge marketing blunder against them, it’ll be hard for Locus to get back into the internet’s good graces.
