Here's what THAT end credit scene means for the future of "Guardians of the Galaxy"
OMG. Marvel is known for their post-credit scenes but Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 really outdid itself. The film, which recently opened across the galaxy, had not one but FIVE post-credit scenes. And while some were just silly, one post-credit scene in particular might influence the future films — and oh yeah, Sylvester Stallone just happens to be in it.
And, of course, plenty of adorable Baby Groot.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is all about family and in general, is a pretty self-contained Marvel movie. There are no *huge* ties to the Marvel Cinematic Universe like Doctor Strange or the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok. But, the film did end up reuniting the original Guardians from the early comics — that’s right!!
And in a post-credit scene, Sylvester Stallone’s character Stakar is inspired to get the crew together again following the death of Yondu. This “crew” consists of Martinex (Michael Rosenbaum), Charlie-27 (Ving Rhames), Aleta Ogord (Michelle Yeoh), robot Mainframe (voiced by Miley Cyrus) and Krugarr.
Here’s what Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige told io9 about the possibility of these characters in future films:
So while we aren’t sure when we’ll be getting a third Guardians film (possibly in 2020?!?), it’s pretty cool to know that they’re thinking ahead as to what stories could be coming, and it sounds like Rocky and his crew are here to stay. And while we’re at it, can we also get a Guardians and Avengers film, please?!
