If you want to have an idea of who you’re going to see out and about this Halloween, just take a look at this new Google program called Google Frightgeist. By ranking Halloween costumes based on Google searches, Google Frightgeist is your go-to place for figuring out the trendiest characters and celebrities on the market this spooky season.

The cool thing about the program is that it ranks costumes both nationally and locally, so you can really narrow it down if you’re looking for detailed information about your hometown.

So now the real question: What are the most popular Halloween costumes this year? In the nation, these are the ten most Googled costumes:

  1. Harley Quinn
  2. Star Wars
  3. Superhero
  4. Pirate
  5. Batman
  6. Minnie Mouse
  7. Witch
  8. Minions
  9. Joker
  10. Wonder Woman

Not surprising. We’ve heard a lot about Harley Quinn and Star Wars in the past few months, so it makes sense that that excitement for the movies (Suicide Squad and Force Awakens) would translate to lots of Halloween costume inspo.

Of course, the list isn’t just hot 2015 trends; there are also some old standbys on the top 10 list. Superhero and pirate, for example, are classic costumes that we see every year, so it’s not shocking to see them in the top 10 again.

Now, what is surprising is the lack of Frozen characters on this list. In fact, Elsa comes in a #22. It seems like Frozen fever has been cured in the form of adorable yellow blobs — the Minions, who are on the top 10 themselves this year after the mega-success of their standalone movie.

Now let’s look at, say, New York, NY. Not only does it tell us the most popular costume in the city (superhero) but it also tells us the most unusually popular costume (Cinderella). Los Angeles has Star Wars at the top of its list, with Sarah Sanderson trending unusually.

It’s a really handy tool, if not for preparing, then just for taking a fun look at how people’s brains and creativity work around the country.
