In today’s world, the only thing we can rely on to be continuously and above all else GOOD are the dogs. Dogs are just good, okay? Don’t @ me on it, you know it’s true. Most dogs are too good for this world.
And that’s why just watching the trailer for Wes Anderson’s latest movie, Isle of Dogs, has me crying. Why? Because it’s a story about an island FULL OF DOGS, and the DOGS ARE ALL VERY GOOD DOGS because they’re trying to help a boy find HIS LOST DOG, and this dog has been LOST ON THE ISLE OF DOGS. Dogs on dogs on dogs on dogs!
Dogs helping other dogs? Wow, these tears are real.
The full synopsis for the movie is about more than just dogs, even though a movie solely about good dogs is fine in my book:
First up, how dare this fictional Mayor exile all the dogs to an island. Second, how does one move to this fictional island? Uh, asking for a friend.
Anderson is returning to the stop motion tactics that he used for Fantastic Mr. Fox, and the movie’s populated with the usual Anderson suspects, like Bill Murray, Tilda Swinton, Frances McDormand, Jeff Goldblum, and Edward Norton. Also joining in on the fun are Bryan Cranston, Scarlett Johansson, and Greta Gerwig.
Only downside to this soon-to-be-masterpiece is that Isle of Dogs doesn’t land in theaters until March 23rd, 2018. But I’m willing to wait a little while for some good dogs.
