The quickest way to a girl’s heart is with a boutique of flowers — unless she’s more into chocolate, boxed TV DVD sets, food, and/or books. Someone better tell this to Monsieur Gaston, who is trying super hard to woo Madame Belle with some wildflowers in the latest picture from Disney’s live-action Beauty and the Beast. Whether Gaston picked these flowers himself, or ~borrowed~ them from someone else in the Village, that remains to be seen. Either way, Gaston is trying hard to make a heartfelt approach, and Belle is just not that into it.

The latest issue of Empire magazine takes us behind-the-scenes of the upcoming live-action Beauty and the Beast, this picture included. While Gaston’s flowers are pretty, can’t he see that Belle’s already got her hands full?

We can all agree that no one’s slick as Luke Evan’s Gaston, and no one else probably eats five dozen eggs, and sure, it’s the thought that counts. But this isn’t the way to win over Emma Watson’s Belle.

Sticking to the same story as the OG Beauty and the Beast, Gaston is after Belle, and Belle refuses him.

“This is a man who, for the first time in his life, hasn’t got what he wanted.” Evans explains in the issue of Empire. “He gets as dark as any Disney character could possibly get.”

Dark like, deciding to kill the Beast, and storm his castle, and forcefully try to take Belle back? Yeah, probably dark like that. We’ll find out exactly what kind of dastardly ticks Gaston has up his sleeve when Beauty and the Beast hits theaters on March 17th, 2017.
