In honor of the release of Disney’s live-action Beauty and the Beast on March 17th, Decluttr did some research to find out the most popular Disney Princess by state. While you’d think Belle would be the definitive winner, thanks to Emma Watson portraying her in the new film, you may be surprised to learn there are two other characters who have the title of favorite Disney Princess in most states.

Using Google search data by state, Decluttr found that Belle does have a pretty strong representation across the good old USA, with six states looking her up the most (including this writer’s home state of New Jersey — Jersey doing me proud!). Yet, the winners overall with seven states each are Elsa from Frozen and Pocahontas.

As the movie Pocahontas is a bit more on the serious side and is often underrated, we’re so happy to see her be such a beloved Disney Princess. (Err, unless she was just being looked up so much near Virginia for school projects and such.)

Check out the graphic below to see which princess is the favorite in your state.

While Cinderella was voted the most popular Disney Princess overall in a survey from May 2016, she is only the most-searched princess in four states. She was outranked by Elsa, Pocahontas, Belle, Moana, and Aurora, and tied with Rapunzel and Snow White.

The least popular princesses — if you can believe it — were Mulan and Ariel with only three states searching for them the most.

At least New York, South Carolina, and Texas love The Little Mermaid and Arkansas, Hawaii, and Massachusetts love Mulan!

We love seeing the breakdown of favorite Disney Princesses by state, but we did notice some glaring gaps. Official Disney princesses Jasmine, Merida, and Tiana are all missing from this list. How could not ONE single state be searching at least one of these fierce ladies the most?
