Disney's live-action Mulan sounds like it will be even more hard-core than the original
Disney is on a live-action remaking roll. And we know that 1998’s Mulan is the next classic to be brought to life. In an in-depth interview with Vulture about Disney’s “remake kingdom,” President of Motion Picture Production Sean Bailey discussed some details of the flick. And by the look of things, it’s going to be an experience of a lifetime.
In the interview, Bailey mentioned that the film will afford Disney the opportunity to work with Chinese collaborators, making for a truly authentic story.
Beauty and the Beast amazed us. But, according to Bailey, Mulan will completely blow us away.
Bailey also noted that the film can be better than ever, saying:
The film will be about Fa Mulan’s journey of disguising herself as a man to fight in the Chinese army. Jurassic World screenwriters Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver are working on the live-action script. Rounding out the crew is Whale Rider director Niki Caro.
We’re bowing to the movie gods, for sure!
Oh, and don’t expect the new Mulan to include your fave tunes from the original. According to Bailey, the remake will have less of a musical vibe.
And as for a release date, the remake will come to theaters November 2nd, 2018. We can’t wait!
