When Brie Larson was announced as Captain Marvel at Comic-Con, the room exploded with excitement. Social media quickly echoed that response. But, as always, there were a few naysayers: those who said Brie Larson was too young to play Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel. (Larson is 27, but will be 29 when the film is released.) Well, Captain Marvel screenwriter Nicole Perlman has something to say about that particular issue.

Brie Larson’s age will not be an issue in Captain Marvel.

In an interview with The Great Big Beautiful podcast, Perlman said:

Take that, naysayers!

Honestly, we know how dedicated Brie Larson is to her latest gig.

And, when you look at the facts, it’s clear that Larson is a great choice for Captain Marvel. So we’re completely behind this casting choice.

And we have to wonder, if Larson and Captain Marvel were men, would this hullaballoo have ever even been voiced?
