Brie Larson's reasons for being an actor are going to change how you see movies
At first glance, the upcoming movie Kong: Skull Island sort of seems like it might just be another big budget sci-fi monster movie — which would be totally fine. After a deeper look, it’s much more than that. The movie’s star Brie Larson says her character is a tribute to journalists, and her explanation is beautiful.
Her poignant caption was accompanied by a still shot from the movie (not pictured: King Kong).
Larson’s comments are incredibly relevant to the current situation going on in the US.
With accusations of fake news being hurled at the press almost daily, both by citizens and the President himself, it’s important to remember the critical and dangerous work that journalists do daily. They may not need to escape a giant monkey, but they do frequently go into war-torn areas, sites of natural disasters, and places where journalists are considered a threat.
It’s amazing that Brie Larson, an Academy Award winner, is using her platform and her choice of roles to speak up for journalists, freedom, and truth. Hit up her insta for a lot of great information:
It’s so important for all of us to continue speaking up and doing everything we can.
