Ladies and gentlemen, Brie Larson is a comedy director now
That’s right: our BFF Brie Larson is going to direct!
Variety reports that Brie will be starring and directing in the independent comedy Unicorn Store, which is written by Samantha McIntyre and tells the story of a woman who moves back in with her parents, only to receive “an invitation to a store that will test her ideas of what it really means to grow up.” That sounds magical!
Screenwriter Samantha McIntyre is appropriately pumped:
We agree: Brie Larson is half-unicorn! Or, at the very least, she’s just as enchanting.
We’re especially thrilled to have another female director in comedy. Other than Elizabeth Banks, Penny Marshall, Nicole Holofcener, and Amy Heckerling, there are very few known female working female comedy directors. (The film Bad Moms, for instance, which is all about motherhood, was written and directed by men.) We can’t wait to see what kind of unique voice Brie Larson brings to Unicorn Store. Until then, we’re pumped to see her as Captain Marvel in Marvel’s first female-centered movie, along with a myriad of other roles. Funny Girl Power for the win!
