Ask anyone about the film Labryinth, and the one thing we all remember is the song about “the babe” aka “the babe with the power.”

The film Labyrinth has holds a special place in all our hearts, and remains part of the cultural conversation decades after its release. After all, we cannot help but hum “Magic Dance” whenever we so much as hear the phrase “Goblin King.”

While much has been written about David Bowie (Goblin King) and Jennifer Connelly (Sarah), there’s not much said about the baby Toby (“the babe with the power”) who Sarah works so hard to rescue. Well, we’re thrilled to report he’s alive and well, and has continued in his father’s footsteps and works as a puppeteer and fabricator, making his own goblins and becoming a goblin king. (Toby’s father Brian Froud designed the characters and worlds of both Labyrinth and The Dark Crystal... it runs in the family.)

When asked during an interview with Portland Monthly as to what he remembered from shooting Labyrinth, Toby (yes, his real name is also Toby) said:

Toby sure has some fun images to go along with those memories:

That’s one for the scrapbook!

Seriously, what a childhood:

David Bowie dancing and singing with us is a memory we sure as heck wouldn’t forget.

On being the “Goblin King,” Toby said:

It seems likely that Toby’s childhood informed his future puppeteering and fabricating interests… we definitely get a Labyrinth vibe from his work:

Seriously, Toby could work on the sequel:

Toby was fortunate enough to work at Henson studios before taking a job at Laika.

Guillermo Del Toro would also enjoy Toby’s work, doesn’t this fabrication look like something that would pop up in one of his movies?:

So keep an eye out on film and television credits—you just might see the new Goblin King listed among them!
