Have you ever wondered how many Avengers are, like, too many Avengers for an Avengers movie? It’s clear that it’s something Disney has been thinking about, and while they’re setting a cap on the amount of superheroes they can include in a movie, they have set a ballpark number for how many they have.
Considering that Spider-Man: Homecoming had two Avengers, and Captain America: Civil War had roughly 11, a good number to guess might be like…20. But right now, there are 27-ish Avengers in Avengers: Infinity War. And Marvel wants more! So many more! According to a new Vanity Fair interview, they could, realistically, put 7,000 different superheroes in one movie.
Okay, not really, because that is literally TOO MANY AVENGERS. But they could. And okay, they won’t all be masked crusaders, as some of them will probably be villains and maybe a few sidekicks, and a Mary Jane or two. But Disney has the rights to *7,000* Marvel characters right now, and from the sounds if it, they want to use all of them.
“We’re looking for worlds that are completely separate — geographically or in time — from the worlds that we’ve already visited,” Disney CEO, Bob Iger, told VF.
On the topic of expanding the universe even more, Marvel’s president, Kevin Feige, mentioned that they’ve barely even scratched the surface when it comes to the ever-expanding world.
“[Marvel is] 22 movies in, and we’ve got another 20 movies on the docket that are completely different from anything that’s come before — intentionally,” Feige explained. “There will be two distinct periods [in the MCU]. Everything before Avengers 4 and everything after. I know it will not be in ways people are expecting.”
With a ridiculous amount of Marvel characters at their disposal, no, we have no idea what to expect next. However, now we could potentially get a movie with roughly 5,000 different characters, all wearing fun superhero suits, and like 2,500 of them are named “Chris.” That’s a movie I’d like to see.
