After her surprise appearance at the Super Bowl Halftime Show, the world wanted nothing more than a Missy Elliott resurgence. Welp, it’s time to open your arms to the high heavens and rejoice, Missy fans. Your dreams are coming true slowly but surely.

Her return to the studio was made official yesterday, when she released her remix of Jack Ü’s EDM headbanger “Take Ü There.” (P.S. Jack Ü is the name Diplo and Skrillex use when they collaborate.) Granted, it’s not a solo project (we’re still crossing our fingers for that) as the song is featuring Kiesza, but boy did she give it the Missy Elliott treatment. Her playful raps snake through the track’s bouncy and disjointed synths and drum breaks with such Missy ease. It got us reminiscing back to those good ‘ol “Work It” days. Is it bad that we kinda want to just isolate her portions of the song and bottle them up on a track of their own? No offense, Skrillex and Diplo!

As for her solo career, longtime friend and legendary producer Timbaland, went on the record to confirm that a new Missy album is on the horizon. He told Rolling Stone, “It’s coming . . . She got the first single, it’s just a matter of when she wants to do it. We got the hollow-tip bullet in the gun”. Aaah, we can’t handle the anticipation! For now, let’s just get our minds off of the new album, and revel in this Missy moment.
