Mischa Barton is reaching out to fans and the press after her terrifying hospitalization, and we're pulling for her
Almost a week after she was allegedly drugged, Mischa Barton is back on Twitter post-hospitalization.
Early in the morning on Thursday, January 26th, Barton was taken to the hospital after police received multiple calls about a disturbance coming from her West Hollywood apartment. She had been out celebrating her birthday the night before, with one guest telling People that the actress “seemed like she was having a great time.”
However, by morning something had gone wrong, and Barton voluntarily admitted herself to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for treatment, with responding officers noting that she was speaking coherently and fully clothed.
Now days later, the actress is speaking out — by thanking her fans, but also by respectfully demanding her privacy on Twitter.
“Thank you so much for all the love guys,” she began. “It means the world to me. There is too much going on in the world so I appreciate this more than ever. From the bottom of my heart. We shall over come. To members of the press please respect my privacy.”
Barton’s tweets came hours after her first social media post post-hospitalization, which simply consisted of a photo of a zen-looking potato; no caption needed.
Upon her initial release, Barton told People exclusively that she was drugged with the date rape drug GHB while drinking.
“On the evening of the 25th, I went out with a group of friends to celebrate my birthday,” Barton’s statement began.
We’re glad to hear that Barton is seemingly feeling better, and will respect her requests for privacy. We also hope she finds the healing she deserves after so many heartbreaking setbacks.
