Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are a match made in heaven. But before Harry came along, there was another man—well, more of a guy—who stole her heart. Yep, we’re talking about Guy the Beagle, the sweet doggo with the velvet ears.

Meghan rescued Guy the Beagle in 2015. He skyrocketed to fame back in May when he was rumored to have hitched a ride with Queen Elizabeth II to the royal wedding in her royal Range Rover. Now, Guy is ready to tell his story. He’s writing a book called His Royal Dogness, Guy the Beagle: The Rebarkable True Story of Meghan Markle’s Rescue Dog. And we can’t WAIT to read it.

In His Royal Dogness, Guy the Beagle, Meghan’s pup describes his journey from a shelter in Kentucky to a loving home in Kensington Palace. He details meeting Meghan, living together in Toronto, and welcoming Harry (whom he describes as having hair the color of a traffic cone) into their family.

The adjustment to life as a royal wasn’t easy for Guy the Beagle. Once in England, he had to adapt to new customs, like going to the bathroom on the other side of the fire hydrant. He also confesses that he once ate half of Prince Charles’ Cornish Yarg sandwich. LOL.

But in the end, with the help of the Queen, Guy found his place and learned the true meaning of family.

Of course, while Guy the Beagle penned his own story, he did have a little help.

He co-wrote it with Mike Brumm, a writer and producer for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and Camille March, a former publishing professional and fellow Beagle lover.

And if the illustration on the cover of His Royal Dogness, Guy the Beagle looks familiar, that’s because the book is illustrated by EG Keller. He’s the artist behind A Day in the Life of Marlon Bundo, John Oliver’s children’s book about Mike Pence’s pet rabbit.

We can’t wait to learn more about Guy the Beagle’s journey to life as a royal. His Royal Dogness hits bookshelves on November 20th. Pre-order your copy here.
