It seem like actor Mark Wahlberg isn’t over being an overprotective parent, even though it’s gotten him in a bit of trouble before.

Wahlberg seems to be adjusting to life as his daughter hits her teens, and whether it’s embarrassing her with a dad rap or decreeing that she absolutely cannot in 10,000,000 years date Justin Bieber, we’ve pretty much gathered that Wahlberg is *that* kind of dad.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight in Chicago at the premiere of the latest Transformers movie, Transformers: The Last Knight, the actor openly admitted that he was pretty protective of his 13-year-old daughter, Ella Rae.

“Nobody is a good type or sort [of guy],” Wahlberg said. “For me, you know, I’m super overprotective.”

The actor said, however, that he did think that his daughter’s current boyfriend is a good guy.

“He’s just a very nice, young, smart boy who is very polite and well prepared,” he said.

Part of his protectiveness, Wahlberg says, comes from the fact that he feels that his daughter is growing up too fast.

This isn’t the first time that Wahlberg has opened up about how he’s struggled with the fact that his daughter has started dating.

Dropping by The Graham Norton Show in the U.K., the 46-year-old actor said that he actually tried to take on his daughter’s boyfriend and intimidate him. However, the actor was one-upped by the teenager, who brought his mom along to their first meeting. Touché.

While it might sound like he’s being a little overbearing. it’s actually super sweet to hear how Wahlberg doesn’t want his daughter to grow up too fast. While growing up is inevitable, we totally understand wanting to keep your little ones, well, little.
