Today, ATX (The ATX Television Festival) released a video of the Dawson’s Creek script reading that happened last month. And just like that, my day was made.

In case, you’ve skipped over the television gift that was Dawson’s Creek; the Kevin Williamson teen drama aired on The WB from 1997 to 2003. It was one of the first of its kind, soapy but smart. And I can’t say enough good things about its cast. James Van Der Beek, Joshua Jackson, Michelle Williams, and Katie Holmes were all incredible. The show defined my teen years which is one of the reasons I was so upset that I couldn’t make it out to Austin to see the writer’s room reunite for the pilot script reading. But, luckily ATX posted the video and all is right with the world.

And believe me, this reading delivered the goods. For all you Dawson’s Creek fanatics like me, this is basically what you’ve been waiting for since…FOREVER. Kevin Williamson (DC’s Creator) moderates, reading the action lines. As for the cast, they decided to do some gender switching, just for funsies.

First and foremost, Mae Whitman is Dawson. If there were awards given for script readings, she most definitely would have won. Patrick J. Adams of Suits fame, plays Joey with dry wit, much like Miss Katie Holmes.

Abigail Spencer (Patrick’s Suits co-star) takes on the role of Pacey. Kerr Smith (yes, the OG Dawson’s Creek cast-member) does a great job playing Jen, though he does have a few moments where he just can’t take the hilarity and bursts out laughing. Pretty entertaining. And Louanne Stephens, aka Matt Saracen’s grandmother on Friday Night Lights, is an inspired choice for Grams.

The reading is filled with ’90s nostalgia and the sexual innuendo we all remember. It goes to show that Dawson’s Creek is not outdated and it never will be! I vote for a Dawson’s Creek resurrection with Mae Whitman! Dawson’s Creek for the 21st century, if you will. If you build it, they will come. I think it’s pretty safe to say that if Kevin Williamson were to bring back Dawson’s Creek, we would all watch the heck out of it. But, if not, at least we have this.

Enjoy the reading below. Happy Tuesday.
