Lin-Manuel Miranda is guest-starring on Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and here's your first look at his character
As any fan of the show will tell you, Brooklyn Nine-Nine has one of the best ensemble casts on TV. Even though Season 6 has already seen the departure of Chelsea Peretti as Gina, the cast remains consistently hilarious. And now, Lin-Manuel Miranda is officially guest-starring in an upcoming episode, and we couldn’t have dreamed of better cameo.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Miranda will play a pivotal role in the series’ March 7th episode, “The Golden Child.” He’ll reportedly portray Amy’s brother, David Santiago. Given the name of the episode, we can only imagine the level of sibling rivalry between Amy, a serious perfectionist, and her bro. EW notes that Melissa Fumero (who plays Amy) is friends with Miranda IRL, so it sounds like the Hamilton composer is the perfect choice to play her onscreen brother.
The magazine also shared an exclusive picture of Miranda on set. One look is all we need to know that this casting choice is flawless.
So far, the plot details of “The Golden Child” haven’t been revealed, but we know that Miranda won’t throw away his shot. The playwright and actor is an avid fan of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and when it was briefly but tragically canceled back in 2018, he was among many celebrities clamoring for its renewal.
He even partied with the cast when the show was picked up by NBC.
Basically, Miranda’s love for the show makes him a natural choice to guest-star—something that fans have pointed out before.
We can’t wait to watch Miranda’s Brooklyn Nine-Nine episode. And until March 7th, we’ll be tuning in to the show at 9 p.m. on Thursday nights.
