For many of us, reaching that perfect place of balance, self-love, and acceptance only comes after years of muscling through the exciting highs and deep, dark lows of our youth. Lea Michele knows that struggle all too well, and is finally living her happiest life.
Michele is on the cover of People Magazine’s new Wellness issue, and digs deep into how her healthy eating and active lifestyle keep her mentally centered. In the interview, she shared her favorite workouts, the contents of her fridge, and how she stays mentally strong on bad days.
“It’s so important for me to stress that being healthy is not about being a gym rat. It’s not about being 90 lbs,” she tells People. “This is really how I live every single day.” Michele’s go-to workouts include hot yoga, SoulCycle spin classes, and hiking. She’s also a vegan, and starts each day with a green smoothie.
In addition to making physical health and clean eating among her top priorities, Michele also shared her strategy when handling everyday struggles. She told People,
“You always have to have faith, because life is going to throw things at you. You just have trust that there is a plan. I really pride myself on the people that I surround myself with and how I take care of myself, so my ground is stable beneath me.”

Michele is now 30, and says that thanks to rigorous workouts, regular spa trips, and the occasional cheat day, she’s in “the best place I’ve ever been […] And I’m so grateful that I feel that way.”
It’s no secret that Michele has dealt with extreme heartbreak in the public eye, and the fact that she’s maintained a positive outlook on life while practicing self-care, speaks volumes about her limitless inner strength. What an inspiring woman!
