It’s no surprise that Laverne Cox is a part of the Beyhive. The ‘Orange is the New Black’ star — who famously killed it on the stage to Destiny’s Child’s ‘Lose My Breath’ in Lip Sync Battle — stopped by ESSENCE to talk about the Grammys and all things Queen Bey, saying the star helped her come into her womanhood. “When I discovered Beyoncé, when she was a member Destiny’s Child, I was also in the beginning of my transition,” Cox said. “I was trying to find my look and find my womanhood. I came into my womanhood listening to DC.” She continued, saying that women like Serena Williams, Viola Davis and Bey are examples we should all look up to. “When you’re a Black woman, you have to be the very best at what you do.” Check out the interview.
