Lauren Jauregui allegedly says Fifth Harmony are treated like "slaves" in this leaked audio and it's breaking our hearts
As if the world of Fifth Harmony wasn’t already dramatic enough this week, new allegedly leaked audio of band member Lauren Jauregui has surfaced and it’s breaking our hearts.
It was announced on Sunday that Camila Cabello had left Fifth Harmony in a statement left by the band where they claimed they had been informed by Cabello’s “representatives” that she’d decided to call it a day. Cabello then responded to these claims, denying the whole thing. THEN, the remaining members of Fifth Harmony released another statement stating that Cabello had been unresponsive to their attempts to sort out the situation.
Essentially, it’s a very difficult and troublesome time for Fifth Harmony, Camila Cabello, and their fans, the Harmonizers, right now.
Now things have become even more complicated and a little bit dark.
Yesterday (December 19th), leaked audio of band member Lauren Jauregui emerged on social media where she claims that Fifth Harmony are treated like “slaves.”
The 17-second audio clip appears to capture a conversation between Jauregui and bandmate Ally Hernandez. In the audio, Jauregui alleges that the band are mistreated.
Someone who appears to be Ally responds saying, “I know, I know.”
Listen to the alleged leaked audio clip below.
This isn’t the first time that Fifth Harmony have expressed their concerns with their working environment. In an interview with Billboard earlier this year in support of their latest album 7/27, the band were said to be crying because of the hard year that they’d suffered.
In the interview, Cabello explains how she started experiencing anxiety (something that would later cause her to cancel a few live appearances). “I was scared of what would happen to me,” she revealed, “of the things my brain might tell me.”
Similarly, Ally Hernandez and Lauren Jauregui spoke about “awful mental health situations” and “pain on a lot of levels,” with Jauregui equating it to “this industry.”
Furthermore, band member Dinah Hansen opened up about how she missed her grandmother’s funeral, and instead had to watch the ceremony on FaceTime, while Normani Kordei opened up about how she’d experienced three deaths in the last year.
The leaked audio comes a week after Lauren Jauregui was stopped at an airport for possession of marijuana. The star missed a concert in Brazil after being “given a citation for possession of marijuana.” She was released on her own “recognizance.”
Of course equating something to slavery is a very serious matter and shouldn’t be joked about. However, while it’s neither been confirmed or denied that the leaked audio is indeed Jauregui, we’re sending our thoughts to the band all the same and hope that they’re all doing well. It can’t be easy being in the spotlight, especially when you’re so young, and we hope that they’re all happy and healthy.
