After what feels like WEEKS of teasing, Lady Gaga has confirmed the release date of her new single “Perfect Illusion.”
You might remember that rumors were flying that Gaga would be releasing the track, which is the first official taste from her upcoming fifth album, any day now. And now it seems that Gaga has finally put all the speculation to rest.
Taking to social to share the artwork (!) for the song, Lady Gaga confirmed that “Perfect Illusion” would indeed be coming this Friday, September 9.
“Perfect Illusion” is said to be a collaboration with Mark Ronson, Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker, and producer BloodPop. The single’s artwork was shot by Andrea Gelardin and Ruth Hogben, and we have to say it’s rather stunning.
Speaking to BURO 24/7 about working with Gaga, Ronson said, “It’s been one of my favourite records to work on and some of the people who have come in to play on it are my favourite musicians, writers and some of her favourites. I think it’s just really good music and probably a record for people who might not have realised that her music had something for them — at least based on the small amount of people who’ve heard it so far.
“It’s definitely pretty deep musically for sure.”
That’s not the only thing that Gaga has teased her Little Monsters with, however. The singer also teased some lyrics and behind-the-scenes pictures and they’re equally as stunning.
“I don’t need eyes to see, I just feel you touchin’ me,” the lyrics read. “High like amphetamine, Maybe you’re just a dream.”
Doesn’t she look just stunning!
Little is known about what “Perfect Illusion” might sound like. However, given the artist’s #throwback aesthetic we’re kinda hoping for a ’70s inspired disco track. We think that Mark Ronson, who is know for his vintage sounds, would really be able to help execute this.
Lady Gaga releases “Perfect Illusion” on September 9. We’re sure it’s going to be…
