This California couple just lived out the "La La Land" engagement photo shoot of our dreams
Even though — and this is a spoiler alert, people — Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone did not live happily ever after at the end of La La Land, this couple’s themed engagement photo shoot is turning us into starry-eyed believers all over again.
California-based couple Ellen Wleklinski and Corey Collins reminded photographer Marlies Hartmann of Stone and Gosling’s characters, Sebastian and Mia, so much that she used the film as inspiration for engagement photos — unhappy ending be damned.
“Ellen and Corey are both native Californians who met and fell in love right here in LA, even though they grew up in neighboring towns upstate,” Hartmann told BuzzFeed. “They visited the Griffith Observatory for one of their first dates…They were both huge fans of the film, and Ellen always felt that Corey looked like her own personal Ryan Gosling.”
Hartmann’s photos are all stunning, and either directly capture moments from the film or are heavily inspired by them.
The Griffith Observatory naturally made a cameo…
…And of course, so did the Hollywood sign, with Hartmann noting she wanted to capture the “energy” of La La Land more than specific scenes or plot points.
Though most importantly, Hartmann made sure to give these two a happy ending.
We can see why Hartmann is such an in-demand wedding and engagement photographer, with her award-winning work earning rave reviews on The Knot.
That being said…we truly hope to see her tackle Moonlight next.
