We wish these kickass lady celebrities would write memoirs
In case you hadn’t noticed, there are a ton of great celebrity memoirs out there lately. From Lena Dunham’s Not That Kind of Girl to Amy Poehler’s Yes, Please to Mindy Kaling’s Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me and Tina Fey’s Bossypants, there are a wealth of funny, smart books by lady celebs out there now. Even Anna Kendrick has signed on, so you KNOW it’s the cool thing to do now, and I don’t see this trend going away any time soon (thank goodness!)
So, in celebration of fierce and fabulous ladies sharing their stories like no one else can, here are six lady celebrities whose memoirs we are dying to read. Publishers: Get on it!
America’s favorite Girl Next Door definitely has some incredible wisdom to share about being a woman in Hollywood, being body positive in a sea of negativity, her killer Cher impression, and her never-ending quest for pizza. Not to mention winning an Oscar before age 25, portraying one of the fiercest fictional heroines of the past decade, and her dizzying rise to fame in her early twenties. We would read all about it.
Melissa McCarthy is one hilarious lady—not to mention incredibly accomplished! The behind-the-scenes stories from her time on Gilmore Girls would probably fill several volumes alone, but she has also acted, written, and produced some of the most laugh-out-loud hilarious films from the last several years (Bridesmaids, anyone? How about the upcoming Ghostbusters reboot?) She’s also been outspoken about the ridiculous body shaming and double standards abound in Hollywood, as well as her own insecurities, so you know she’d have a whole boatload of wisdom to drop on the younger generations.
Four words: Harry Potter set secrets. Seriously, everyone’s favorite teen witch (and my own personal role model since age 7) needs to write a memoir like, yesterday. Not only was she catapulted to stardom at an incredibly young age thanks to her role in the most successful film franchise in history, but since then she has gone on to star in multiple films (Perks of Being a Wallflower!) as well as becoming a UN Goodwill Ambassador, and a bravely outspoken feminist and human rights activist.
Our girl Zooey is already an actress, producer, singer/songwriter, and a co-founder of HelloGiggles itself, not to mention about to embark on another incredible journey: motherhood. Sure, she’s got a lot on her plate, but a triple (er, quadruple?) threat like her could handle a simple little book deal. I think we’re all dying to know what goes on behind the scenes at New Girl, not to mention the inspiration her her indie folk band, She and Him. She’s done it all—and now we want the inside scoop! I know Zooey’s got a ton of wisdom to dish out, and I’d be standing in line to hear it.
Oh, T-Swift. The past months since the release of 1989 has seen the expansion of her fanbase every which way. The pop-princess-turned-superstar has been known for surprising fans with incredibly charitable acts, cross-stitching rap lyrics for gifts, being the best cat lady on the planet, and most recently, starting what we can only speculate is a fierce girl gang of some of the most elite ladies in Hollywood. Not to mention, she has become a fiercely outspoken feminist, and all around supporter of doing what you love and doing it well. She has all sorts of tips for shaking off the haters (sorry) and staying true to yourself. Plus I bet the lady knows a few good pie recipes, too.
Queen Bey already has a whole Beyhive worth of fans hanging on her every word, and if the surprise release of her last album is any indicator, the success rate for this endeavor would be off the charts. Plus, the world is dying to know more about the Destiny’s Child days, home photos of Blue Ivy, and what it’s like to single-handedly take over the world. (Who runs the world? BEYONCE.)
So, are you listening publishers? Get on that. We’d like to have at least one other delicious memoir for next year’s beach reading.
