Kendall Jenner did a photo shoot for Vogue Spain last month that sparked a surprising amount of controversy. Modeling as a ballerina, Kendall twirled and posed her way around a dance studio clad in pointe shows and a tutu — and the response from some dancers was swift and ferocious.

While some questioned why a trained ballerina couldn’t have been hired in Kendall’s place, others insisted that the model had done a poor job representing professional dancers and shouldn’t have taken on the shoot.

“Kendall Jenner’s ballet photo shoot is literally SO offensive you can’t just put on pointe shoes and go for it oh my god,” wrote one user on Twitter.

Though she received as much support for the shoot as she did criticism, Kendall has chosen not to speak out about the controversy — until now.

In a post on her app today, Jenner wrote, “With my Vogue Spain shoot, I didn’t even know I was going to be a ballerina until I went into hair and makeup.”

She continued,

Clearly she’s unfazed and taking a positive approach to the whole thing — and we think that’s great. We’ll take a page from her book of good vibes and just look forward to seeing Kendall on the Victoria’s Secret runway in December.
