Katherine Heigl's first photo after her show's cancelation is basically the definition of self care
When it comes to major life events that make you want to curl up into a tight ball and cry, losing your job is up there.
So when Katherine Heigl’s CBS court procedural, Doubt, was canceled after only two episodes, we almost kind of figured she’d go into hiding — because losing your job is traumatic enough without the whole thing going down publicly. And for Heigl, of course, Doubt was being touted as her big TV comeback after State of Affairs was canceled and some other missteps in her career, so losing the gig so quickly must be especially painful.
However, the first photo Heigl posted to her Instagram account after the series’ cancelation has us totally relieved that she’s going to be okay. Because instead of feeling sorry for herself or disappearing entirely, Heigl is simply have a blast with her family.
“Everything about this impromptu family pic makes me laugh and laugh and laugh!!!” Heigl captioned a pic with her husband of 10 years, Josh Kelley, and their three children. “We may have a 2017 Family Christmas card winner here people! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😳”
Between all of the heat she took for withdrawing from the Emmys race during her Grey’s Anatomy years (which, perhaps, was warranted) and for daring to call Knocked Up sexist (which was not — Heigl was right), it hasn’t always seemed easy being Katherine Heigl in Hollywood, especially over the past half-decade when her work load noticeably lessened. We were rooting for her to succeed with Doubt and are still eager to see a big “comeback,” but in the meantime, we’re glad to see she’s focusing on those who love her most instead of getting caught up in the game.
