Jon Hamm and Amy Poehler threw the ultimate TV party, but there was a hitch
This confirms what we pretty much already knew: Jon Hamm and Amy Poehler are the best people in Hollywood. Jon Hamm went on Late Night with Seth Meyers last night, and told a great story about a party he threw with Amy Poehler after the Emmys—except this party was just for the losers.
In the clip, Hamm explains that he was an Emmy loser for fifteen years in a row before winning Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series this past September for his iconic role in Mad Men. But before then, he was so used to losing that he and Amy Poehler did something pretty special:
If you won an Emmy, you couldn’t come to the party unless you gave a donation to charity at the door. This party was so awesome, that there ended up being a lot of do-gooders present, even if they did arrive with trophy in hand. Winners like Tina Fey and Julia Louis-Dreyfus showed up, and donated, before checking their Emmy at the door and partying with the rest of the guests—whom I won’t call losers. Let’s be honest: anyone who gets to hang out with Amy Poehler and Jon Hamm is a winner in our books.
